Bake-off has fundraiser Covered

-

STAFF at a timber and builders merchants depot in Aldershot have helped contribute to a £30,000 donation for hospice charities as part of its Help for Hospices initiative.

The donation from Covers Timber & Builders Merchants will be divided between 12 charities, including Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham.

Staff at Covers , along with volunteers from Phyllis Tuckwell, came together to host a best of British themed builders’ bake-off and bake sale to contribute to the fund.

Rupert Green, chairman of Covers, said: “We were thrilled to see the return of our Help for Hospices campaign after it was cancelled last year.

“Donating to hospices in the communities we operate in is extremely important to us and the principal way we show our support for the vital work they do for patients and their loved ones. Thank you to everyone who joined us during the week and helped us to raise funds. We hope the money will make a real difference to the hospices and the people they care for.”

Covers boosted the amount by donating £5 for each registered customer that made a purchase during the builders’ bake-off event.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care provides supportive and end of life care for adult patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness who live in west Surrey and north east Hampshire. Every day it supports more than 250 patients, their relatives and carers in their own homes, at its hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford. Covers’ Help for Hospices has been running since 2015 and the company has now given more than £185,000 to the hospices it supports.
