Boro boss Day excited as close friends put pen to paper and join squad

HISHAM KASIMU AND ADEOYE OLUMUYIWA SIGN FROM AFC TOTTON

-

AMBITIOUS Farnborough have snapped up 24-year-old striker Hisham Kasimu from AFC Totton, while defender Adeoye Olumuyiwa has returned on a permanent basis from the same club.

Kasimu scored an impressive 30 goals throughout the 2021/22 season, the front man having joined AFC Totton from Blackfield & Langley in May 2020 having previously played for Team Solent in Southampton.

The striker started for Blackfield & Langley in both league fixtures against Farnborough in the 2019/20 season.

He has been on Boro’s radar for some time, with his pace and quality in front of goal catching the eye of manager Spencer Day.

Day said: “I’ve been after him for three years. He scored 30-odd goals at Step 4 and played at Step 3. He is a very quick and exciting player.

“He can play out wide, can play through the centre and has a great attitude. We’re really looking forward to developing him with the rest of a very exciting bunch, so I am very pleased to get him over the line.”

Kasimu said: “I’m very excited. I feel very happy and I’m ready to get started.”

Olumuyiwa, also 24, is back at Boro for the second time in his career. He is known to the Farnborough faithful from a one-month loan spell in August 2019, when he made a handful of appearances.

The Nigerian made 30 appearances on the south coast last season and makes a comeback to the National League South – a division he won promotion from during his time at Weymouth.

Boro’s new centre-back is close friends with Kasimu, with the pair having played together over the years.

Day added: “Ade is a player I really wanted last year. He’s been with us before so the fans, although he was only with us briefly, will be really excited to see him back. “He’s another really strong addition to our back line and I’m so very excited to get him over the line as well.”

We’re really looking forward to developing Kasimu with the rest of a very exciting bunch. Spencer Day
