Victor Duleep Singh 1866-1918
As the eldest son, Victor would have been heir to the Sikh Empire. Like his father, Victor was a military man. He trained at Sandhurst, having been given special dispensation to join the army by his godmother, Queen Victoria. He was stationed at various places in his career, but like his brother he escaped action in World War I. Victor’s marriage to Lady Anne Coventry was controversial, as it was the first time an Indian prince married an English noblewoman.
