Famous for the bejewelled Easter eggs that he created for the Russian Romanov dynasty, Fabergé’s designs were works of art that changed the way society looked at jewellery. In 1885, Alexander III made him ‘Goldsmith by special appointment to the Imperial Crown’ and Fabergé was propelled to international acclaim.
