Sentinel-5P heads for space
Sentinel-5P, the latest satellite in Europe’s Copernicus programme, has been launched into a Sun-synchronous orbit that will allow it to monitor Earth’s air pollution. Fitted with its Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI), Sentinel-5P will provide scientists with valuable data regarding changes in Earth’s atmosphere.
The satellite was encapsulated in the launcher and the launch campaign team took the time to sign the printed logo (right) of the rocket. On 13 October 2017, Sentinel-5P was rocketed into space from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia.
