Iceberg right ahead!
Another one of the Copernicus Earth Observation satellites has recently been busy at work. This image from Sentinel-3A spacecraft reveals the Antarctic Peninsula and the adjacent Larsen Ice Shelf at the end of September.
More specifically, the satellite has been observing the iceberg that broke off during July of this year - the slab of ice, known as A68, is about twice the size of Luxembourg. The image has been edited to coordinate the ice and snow as blue and the clouds as pink. Scientists were able to differentiate the two and deduce that the gap between the berg is widening - and possibly drifting out to sea.
