Wildlife in our new pond

-

LAST year my husband and I made a garden pond. I planted some tiny teasels that I had grown from seed earlier in the year along with other self-seeded plants. Less than a year later we have an abundance of plants and plenty of wildlife, from nymphs and water boatmen to lots of frogs. In addition, birds visit to forage among the plants and drink from the shallow end.

While the wildlife helps keep down the population of slugs and snails, the pond area gives me a lovely resting place to sit down, have a cup of tea and read Amateur Gardening.
