As is to be expected with the incredible growth we have been witnessing in the American whiskey industry, across the full spectrum from craft to conglomerate, it has been yet another great year for the World Whiskies Awards.
We are thrilled to announce the winner results, including the World's Best Bourbon, World's Best Single Barrel Bourbon and World's Best Tennessee whiskey and the Best winner results from the US.
Ironroot Republic Harbinger 115 PROOF | 57.5% ABV
A punch of alcohol on the nose, kettle corn, salted caramel and vanilla. Full-bodied and strong with a caramel sweetness, liquorice and dried fruits. Rounding out with a long nish of oak and spice.
Rebel Yell Single Barrel 10 Years Old 100 PROOF | 50% ABV
A sweet nose with salted caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Nice balance of spice in flavor with pink peppercorns and candied fruit. Hot, drying and a long nish.
Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey 1820 Premium Single Barrel Whiskey 100 PROOF | 50% ABV
Pleasing nose of sweet-roasted corn and oak. Rich on the tongue with big oak. Good complexity and great character. It’s delicious.
FEW Spirits American Straight Whiskey 93 PROOF | 46.5% ABV
Sweet on the nose with apple and a hint of smoke, vanilla, caramel and light spice. Full palate with oak and caramel, candied apples and a hint of spice. Medium short nish with chocolate, oak and more spice.
Virginia-highland Whisky Port Cask Finished 92 PROOF | 46% ABV
Dried fruit and sweet raisins on the nose. Some spice and vanilla. The palate is toasted oak, cocoa and caramel. Mild with a light nish.
Snitching Lady Distillery Button's Blue Corn Whiskey 100 PROOF | 50% ABV
Pleasing nose of mocha, chocolate, to ee and butterscotch. Palate has sweetness on entry, hints of florals leading to nuttiness and oak on the back of the tongue. Quick nish and very mild alcohol hit throughout.
FEW Spirits Cold Cut Bourbon 93 PROOF | 46.5% ABV
Nose has very subtle co ee notes. Mild flavor of dark roasted co ee beans. Not overly complex but de nitely a dessert whiskey. Something sweet would pair nicely.
Bainbridge Yama Mizunara Cask 90 PROOF | 45% ABV
Wood notes on the nose with cereal and fresh-cut oats. Sweet and grainy body with alcohol warmth coming through. Tasty in combination with the oats. Long hot nish.
291 Colorado Rye Whiskey White Dog 101.7 PROOF | 50.8% ABV
Clear. Earthy on the nose with hints of citrus. Palate it is creamy and so , and lemon and caramel create sweetness. A short nish.
Colonel E. H. Taylor, Jr Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 100 PROOF | 50% ABV
Sweet on the nose with vanilla, caramel and rich dried fruit. Nicely balanced and great integrated flavours. Water mutes the nose, but then provides a red velvet cupcake hint.
Westland Distillery Cask #3204 120 PROOF | 60% ABV
Smoke and rich peat on the nose, vanilla and clove. Opens up with a little water. Grassy and full-bodied with a medium length nish.
The Notch Nantucket Single Malt 15 Years Old 96 PROOF | 48% ABV
Dark ripened fruit on the nose, apple brandy and orange blossom. Very balanced palate with brown sugar, malt and oak. Heavy spice coming through mid-palate. Apples on the nish.
Bainbridge Two Islands Hokkaido Cask 86 PROOF | 43% ABV
On the young side, but well balanced. Grain forward and sweet caramel on the nose. Nice mouthfeel, including hot flavors of spice and sweet pear. Hints of wood are balanced. Dry on the nish, warm with spice and oak.
Kentucky Peerless Distilling Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 109.4 PROOF | 54.7% ABV
Nice nose of mocha, chocolate, to ee and butterscotch. Palate with a decent sweetness on entry, hints of florals leading to nuttiness and oak on the back of the tongue. Quick nish and very mild alcohol throughout.
