Huge Trent barbel is ‘all down to dad’

LIAM Roe had his father to thank for the capture of this personalbest 14lb 10oz barbel.

The Doncaster rod tempted the specimen on a crab-flavoured boilie fished over a bed of hemp just two rodlengths out.

However, Liam only decided to visit the spot on the tidal River Trent after receiving advice from his dad about where to fish. He said: “Unfortunately my old man can’t get out on the bank these days due to a long-term illness, but he tells me where to fish and I’m just so glad I can reward his advice with this superb barbel.”
