We should welcome the presence of EA bailiffs on the bank

-

I RECENTLY had a day on the bank at my local commercial fishery and was pleased to see an Environment Agency bailiff come round to check rod licences.

He stopped by my peg, had a polite bit of a chitchat and then asked to see my licence – which I produced – before he said goodbye and moved on to the next angler.

Later that day I talking to another angler who started moaning about the EA bailiff. He called him ‘nosey’ and said he should ‘get a proper job’.

I couldn’t believe this. I thought it was fantastic that the EA had sent a member of staff out. Surely we should be keen to see bailiffs, as this shows our licence money is being spent well in helping to stamp out evasion. Chris Tillett, Gainsborough
