EVERAL months after catching ‘The Parrot’ at 68lb 1oz, Dean Fletcher has finally had his record carp ratified (see pages 4 and 5).

Dean had to wait five long months before receiving his certificate, a period of time he calls ‘absolute rubbish’. I agree with him.

The fish has been caught three times since Dean banked it, and what if it had been larger than when he claimed his record? Would he ever have been the record-holder?

Makes a bit of mockery of the process, doesn’t it?
