Shock 7lb chub from Great Ouse

A BARBEL fishing session threw up a big surprise for Phil Lee when he smashed his chub personal best with this 7lb specimen.

Fishing a stretch of the River Great Ouse at Olney, the local angler was legering pellets for barbel when his only bite of the session produced this impressive chevin.

“It wasn’t what I was expecting, but you won’t hear me complaining,” said a jubilant Phil.
