MY ALL ROUND RIG

-

THERE is nothing I can’t do with this float! I carry them in sizes from 4x10 up to 4x16, covering me for meat, corn, hard pellets and even maggots and casters! The Steady features a rugby ball -shaped body, a wire stem which aids stability, and a short bristle.

For general carping on meat and corn I always make them up on 0.17mm Guru N-Gauge, then add a 6ins hooklength of 0.15mm N-Gauge on the bank.

A size 16 LWG hook completes the set-up. You may have noticed I have opted for a 6ins hooklength on the Steady. This helps give the hookbait a bit more movement, which I like in deeper water.

Shotting is a strung bulk of No 10s with the bottom shot 6ins from the hook and the rest of the droppers spaced at 1.5ins intervals above this. The loosely strung bulk helps to give a slower fall of the hookbait – important for meat and corn as the fish sit off bottom and then follow the hookbait down.
