SNAKE LAKE FAR BANK

-

ONE of my favourite ways of fishing is on the mud line on snake lakes, and there is no better float for this than 0.2g KC Carpa Ape.

For fishing in inches of water I find this pattern perfect. The float is heavy enough to give me the required stability even when there are a lot of fish in the swim.

It’s a very short float with a chunky wire stem, which means it’s very stable. It also has a short bristle so that it sits quickly – important in shallow water.

The body shape is like a rugby ball, which helps with stability. Normally here I’m targeting carp and F1s ranging in size from 1lb-6lb so mainline is 0.15mm N-Gauge to a short 4ins hooklength.

I like a short hooklength in shallow water as it allows me to get shot close to the hook without putting them on the hooklength.

For meat or pellets, hook is a size 16 Guru F1 Pellet, a strong yet lightweight pattern. Shotting is a bulk of No10s 4ins from the hook.
