MILTON ABBAS FORTY RESPONDS TO PREBAIT

Lunchtime freebies, night success

-

AN overnighter between work saw Matt Moors bank this Milton Abbas brute at its first time over 40lb.

Having only got a ticket for the Dorset syndicate water this season, Matt managed a 24lb mirror in three nights before this session.

“The lake is about 10 minutes from work, so I’ve been trying to get down on my lunch break at least twice a week to stay in touch with the place,” he said.

On this occasion, Matt baited two spots during his lunch hour and returned after work, hoping no-one had moved into the swim.

“Fortunately, when I turned up at 5.30pm, I had the lake to myself.

“Within half-an-hour, the rod in the deeper area absolutely melted! I lifted into the fish but within seconds the 20lb 0.43mm fluorocarbon had been cut clean 10 yards from the rig.

“I was devastated, but the spot was absolutely rocking by this point.”

Having re-tackled, Matt didn’t have to wait long for another chance.

He said: “It couldn’t have been more than 10 minutes later that the same rod went into meltdown.” After a fraught battle that saw the fish wipe out his other two rods, the fish, known as No Name, rolled into the net and was weighed at 40lb 1oz.
