ANDY’S WINNING TIPS

A few of the little edges that gave Andy May his Fish O’Mania victory

-

STODGY MIX

Make sure your groundbait is mixed so that you can create a small, firm ball that will sink quickly. Bait-Tech Karma is great for a variety of species.

PLUMBING UP

A heavy plummet will help you gauge what lies on the bottom. If you feel it sink then you know you are fishing over silt – if it bangs down, it’s a solid lakebed.

SIDE PULLER KIT

Use a top kit with a Side Puller on it. This will make sure you can use light elastics and still land bonus fish quickly.

BACK SHOT

Place two No8 shot on the line between your pole-tip and float. This will help keep a tight line and reduce the number of bites you miss.

DOT IT DOWN

Ensure your float is well dotted down to help you spot every bite. Add a touch of grease to the bristle to stop it sinking when there is no fish attacking the bait.

BIGGER HOOK

A worm head can easily wriggle itself off a small hook, so step up to a fine wire size 14 to prevent this happening.
