5 SURFACE FISHING TIPS
TRIM DOWN A POP-UP
Try cutting down a boilie as a hookbait to match the size of your feed pellets or biscuits.
AVOID DISTURBANCE
Don’t cast directly into a group of feeding fish and always ‘feather’ your line on the cast to avoid disturbance as your controller hits the surface.
DON’T RUSH THINGS
Be prepared to keep feeding until the carp start taking your baits with confidence before you make your first cast.
HAIR-RIG IT TIGHT
If you’re using a hair rig, ensure your bait is tight to the back of the hook.
LONG HOOKLENGTH
When fishing with a controller, use a hooklink that’s around 4ft long to create some distance between the float and your hookbait.
