Highfields Leisure
Soak up the peace of this Lincolnshire Wolds retreat
ONE of the benefits of being an angler is enjoying the peace and quiet of your chosen venue. If you book in a visit at Highfields, you’ll find the batteries recharged in double quick time – it truly is a haven of tranquillity just 30 minutes from the A1!
Sprawling across well in excess of 190 acres in the Lincolnshire countryside, the site is surrounded by woodlands and meadows with nature walks (the site has won the David Bellamy Gold Award year on year). Here you’ll see an array of wildlife whether you’re out for a stroll or fishing one of the four lakes.
Five-star breaks in the two timber lodges and three static caravans are available, and if you really love the place you can bag your own pad by buying a new or pre-owned caravan or lodge. There’s no clubhouse, café or children’s play area on site, which adds to the peace, and dogs are welcome too.
Only one lake is day ticket – Alder is home to carp to 15lb plus roach, rudd, perch and bream offering easy fishing on the float or pole. Holidaymakers are allowed to fish this lake at no extra cost. Exclusive to anglers staying on site are Hawthorn, Rowan and Willow Lakes.
All hold carp, with some big fish in Hawthorn Lake plus roach, rudd, perch, bream, crucians and tench. The lakes around an acre apiece and are nicely matured.
Lodge accommodation consists of the Park View and Woodside Lodges, both sleeping up to six people in three bedrooms and overlooking the lakes – although pets are not allowed in the Park View Lodge.
Should you fancy a caravan stay, Highfields has a brand new 2015 model ABI Alford fourberth static holiday van that’s stylish and contemporary in design and situated on a large elevated lakeside pitch close to the edge of Hawthorn Lake.
With central heating, double glazing and an outdoor patio area with picnic table, the caravan is fully equipped and incorporates a lockable storage unit for fishing tackle.
Also available are two further static vans with double glazing and central heating.
