Ringwood DAA

Ringwood DAA’s Northfield complex is a revelation

-

IT WOULD be easy to suppose that Ringwood DAA offers only fishing on prime stretches of the Hampshire Avon and Dorset Stour, but the club also has an impressive portfolio of stillwater fishing.

The Management Committee of RDAA is dedicated to acquiring the very best fishing for its members and maintaining its venues to the highest standards, providing wherever possible good access and parking, well maintained banks and support from a team of bailiffs.

The Northfield complex, in particular, will be attractive to current and new members. Comprised of four lakes – the White and Junior Lakes and Half and Wash Pits – it offers fishing to suit all styles.

Specimen anglers are well catered for on the White and Half Pits while the Half Pit, also known as Linbrook Lake, is renowned for its summer tench fishing, with around 20 acres to go at. The lake is weedy, and depths run to 12ft, but there are double-figure fish present along with plenty of 6lb-8lb tench along with some very big bream and carp. Big rudd also live here, but tracking them down can be a real challenge!

Get on the White Lake and you’re in the land of the giants. This sprawling 25-acre lake runs clear for much of the year as it is spring-fed, and holds carp to 35lb, catfish to 50 lb, bream to 13lb plus tench and some quality roach and rudd.

Although this lake responds to a long-stay approach, the short session angler can enjoy good sport from the roach and rudd, which run to 2lb.

If plenty of action is what you are after then the Wash Pit is the lake for you. At only five acres it is well stocked with a range of species. The carp go into double figures alongside bream, roach, rudd and tench on float or feeder tactics, and you could also get a surprise when fishing this lake from big eels and perch.

Finally, to promote junior angling, the club has its Junior Lake full of fish of a manageable size. It’s stocked with carp to double figures, tench and a range of silverfish that can be caught on relatively simple short-range tactics.
