COLOUR
I always carry a tub containing a mixture of different coloured hookbaits with me and it is surprising how often the fish will show a distinct preference for one colour over another.
Bright baits, such as white, pink and yellow, will often bring a quick response, but you might have to wait a bit longer for a bite on a dark red or brown bait, but these can often be from better fish.
If one colour stops working but you are still getting line-bites you can often catch an extra fish or two by changing bait colour. If your tip remains motionless, though, it is more likely that the fish have moved off.
