Huge Trent barbel in 3am alarm call

-

THIS pristine barbel shows why the River Trent is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest venues for the species.

It weighed 16lb 15oz, and was caught by East Yorkshire rod Colin Hebb.

He kicked his session off with a nine-pounder, but then things went quiet. After hours of inactivity his rod arched over again at 3am, and after an arm-aching battle his prize was soon in the net.

A crab and crayfish-flavoured boilie was the winning hookbait for Colin.
