FOR BIG FISH

-

THE DH12 is the pattern I always go for when I’m targeting big fish. They run from 2g to 6g. The float features a lined hole through the body and I always make these up on strong mainlines of 0.20mm or 0.22mm.

The heavy wire stems keep the floats stable in pacey swims and the shape enables you to hold back really hard against the flow.

These rigs are fished with a short (3ft) length of line from pole tip to float and are often fished overshotted in order to keep the float tip stable under the water.

I fish these up to 1ft overdepth and, keeping the positive theme going, the dropper shot consists of a single No6 or No4.
