How to hook your sweetcorn

-

AM I better off hair-rigging corn for carp or hooking it directly in the normal way?

Karl Weston, Rotherham

ARE you fishing the feeder or the pole? On the tip, hair-rigging works far better as a carp will have time to suck the bait in, whereas a bait impaled directly on the hook is easier for the fish to eject.

Hair-rigging can work on the pole too, but with this tactic it’s better to hook the corn in the normal way as you are not relying on the fish hooking itself (as you are when fishing the feeder). On the bite, you need to strike hard and pull the hook through the bait.
