RUSH Lyvars near Hull has a match/plea­sure wa­ter (The Shal­lows) and a spec­i­men carp lake (The Deeps).

The Shal­lows sup­ports a big head of carp, tench, bream ide and sil­ver­fish.All 50 pegs are well spaced. An­glers are catch­ing down the edge and at around 12m on pole or wag­gler with paste, dead mag­gots, pel­lets or cast­ers.

Venue reg­u­lar and Brown­ing- backed match­man James Hall fished this pool re­cently and had a good day on the short pole, feed­ing mi­cros and fish­ing a banded 4 mm pel­let over the top. On the long line he fished banded caster shal­low at 13m for ide, bream and F1s, chuck­ing in small balls of mi­cro pel­lets.

The Deeps of­fers spec­i­men carp an­glers lots of runs with the odd big­ger fish to 30lb.
