WEIGHTS REACH A NEW HIGH

TYLER’S COMMON FISHERY, BRENTWOOD, ESSEX

-

IF YOU want to bag up on carp or silverfish this weekend than look no further than Tyler’s Common.

The Essex fishery has been fishing its socks off lately and match records have been tumbling, with 500lb-plus nets being recorded.

Horseshoe and Ash Lakes are where all the action has been taking place in the last couple of weeks.

Local angler Jordan Briant weighed 531lb on peg 33 in a recent open, beating the pool’s former match record by more than 130lb. Jordan caught mostly carp to 10lb by fishing meat down the edge, but anglers have also fared well on the lake’s other 59 pegs by

fishing pellets or corn to the margins of the islands which feature on every single peg.

If carp aren’t your thing and you prefer a more natural style of fishing than you can always try Wagtail Lake.

Although this is the fishery’s specimen carp lake, with lumps to 40lb in it, the pool is also stuffed with big rudd and roach with individual fish to 2lb on offer. These respond best to a little-and-often loosefeed approach using float rigs.
