PREPARING dry particle baits takes a little bit of forward planning, but is well worth the effort. Not only does it allow you to customise your bait, but it works out much cheaper too. Follow these simple steps for perfect particles every time.
Add any flavourings or colourings to the water when you start soaking the baits. This will allow the additives to be drawn right into the core of the particles rather than merely coat the surface.
Cover the dry baits with an equal volume of water and allow them to soak for 24 hours. This allows them to expand to their full size.
Bring the pan of bait to the boil and cook for 20 minutes to soften and kill the particles so any spilled on the bank will not germinate.
Allow the baits to cool down naturally, then add a handful of rock salt to each pan of bait and stir well.
