NEW LAKE BEST AS TWO FORTIES FALL

Fat Common packs on the pounds

RETURNING to his syndicate venue after a holiday, Jensen Mannings banked two fish for nearly 90lb including a new lake record.

The Bristolian caught the Big Cream at 41lb 8oz, followed by the Fat Common at 48lb 2oz the next morning.

The Avid-backed angler found a small group of carp sunning themselves in the weed.

“I placed two rigs in the deeper hole and another on the raised ground. I then used a catapult to introduce around 6kg of 18mm CC Moore Pacific Tuna over the area. Later that afternoon the spot began to fizz up and fish started to show over the area,” said Jensen.

After a strong line bite, the same rod pulled round 30 minutes later.

“I could feel the carp plodding around deep as it dragged me through weedbeds. At the net cord I could see it was one of my targets – the Big Cream at 41lb 8oz.

“As the morning sun rose, the spot began to fizz yet again, and minutes later my right hand rod was away. The fight was similar to the last, but just felt a lot heavier.

“As I drew the fish closer I caught a glimpse of it and knew that what I was connected to was potentially my target fish known as the Fat Common. I edged her closer and at full reach managed to roll her into the net! She looked colossal and weighed a whopping 48lb 2oz, a new lake record!” he said.
