Jigga? It’s not for me!
I LOVE catching fish as much as the next man but I don’t like the ‘catch at all costs’ mentality that some anglers have.
Getting a few bites calls upon all the skills you have developed over the years, but some seem determined to fill their keepnets in a way that doesn’t test their intelligence, only their stamina.
Steve Ringer is a phenomenal angler who could catch a huge weight in his sleep, but I didn’t like the look of the Jigga float he was explaining in the last issue.
It was basically a self-hooking rig, and to my mind striking at the appropriate time or trying to pick out line bites from genuine indications is a big part of the enjoyment of the sport.
When using a Jigga you could literally sit there and keep your eyes closed and just wait to feel the elastic come out!
It’s clearly a deadly tactic but it’s definitely not for me. Mitch Holmes, Grays
