KNOW YOUR DISTANCE

-

WHEN England first fished the World Feeder Championships we were one of the few teams who counted the turns of line on the reel to establish the distance at which we were fishing.

It was soon apparent that measuring sticks were miles quicker and far more accurate!

I have two sets, with tapes pre-set at 2m and 3m. If space behind me is tight I’ll use the 2m set, or the 3m set if there’s plenty of room.

In snaggy pegs they’re a godsend. If I need to re-clip a rod I can just get up and use the sticks – I don’t need to make five or six casts to try and get back to the right number of turns on the reel.
