6 PUT ON A FLOAT

-

THE waggler or stick float, depending how far out you cast, is a great way of approaching a shoal of chub.

You’ll need plenty of pints of maggots or casters to catapult in, as chub are greedy fish and you may have to increase the feed to switch them on, especially in the last few hours.

Fish a 3lb, 4lb or even 5lb mainline straight through because the chub is a notoriously hard-fighting species which dives for snags.
