ANGLING TRUST RIVERFEST QUALIFIER (SAT) River Trent, Newark Dyke (58 pegs)

Pete Bradshaw sealed the win and his place in the big final thanks to a 24-10-0 total. A simple groundbait feeder attack did the trick from peg 24 at East Stoke, with bream and skimmers coming at regular intervals. Adi Reynolds was second and also qualified, thanks to a 17-4-0 netful from peg 1 at Rollstone.

Result: 1 P Bradshaw, Tibshelf, 24-10-0; 2 A Reynolds, Leics, 17-4-0; 3 S Eaton, 15-15-0; 4 P Moutrey, 15-12-0; jt 5 M Buchwalder and M Hall, both 10-7-0.

ANGLING TRUST RIVERFEST QUALIFIER (SUN) River Yare, Beauchamp Arms (56 pegs)

The roach fishing was at its best for this event and Rob Kepner tipped an impressive 26-4-0 of them on to the scales. Feeding and fishing caster on the hook helped the Devizes angler contact redfins to 12oz. Preston Innovation­s angler Mick Vials was second from peg 121, where he used the feeder with maggot and caster for 20-2-0.

Result: 1 R Kepner, Devizes, 26-4-0; 2 M Vialls, Preston, 20-2-; 3 W Freeman, Preston Innovation­s, 19-7-0; 4 S Merry, Leic, 17-13-8; 5 K Rowles, Devizes, 16-6-0; 6 S Wilsmore, Drennan, 12-10-0.

DIVISION 2 NATIONAL PRACTICE Birmingham Fazeley Canal (42 pegs)

Peter Cox showed he has got the venue sussed out for the big event as he won with a meagre 9-14-0. The Strike team man drew in B section and put five bream in the net. In less-than-deal conditions, Dave Bolton’s 8-0-3 was enough for second place.

NISA FEEDERMAST­ER River Yare, Beauchamp Arms (75 pegs)

The action was patchy but Andy Wilding found a few fish and accumulate­d a winning 32-2-0. Using the groundbait feeder with worm and caster from peg 147, the Whittlesey angler made the trip worthwhile with slabs to 4lb. Chris Hunt used similar tactics and

fell just shy of the top spot with 30-12-0 from the next peg.

PRESTON INNOVATION­S BOLDINGS POOLS Beech & Hawthorn Pools (38 pegs)

Dave Emlyn’s float went under almost every put-in, and he ended the day on 131-4-0. Fishing maggot towards the island and in the margins of peg 5 on Hawthorn soon got the fish feeding, with carp to 7lb and the odd silverfish being fooled. Bob Baker was best of the rest on 123-15-0 from peg 3 on Beech.

Result: 1 D Emlyn, OAC, 131-4-0; 2 B Baker, Fosters, 123-15-0; 3 K Melville, Shrewsbury, 100-13-0; 4 S Dicken, Woodend, 81-4-0.

STARLETS NORTHFIELD VETS (TUES) Greenhill Fishery (35 pegs)

Turning to the margins late in the day saw Brian Larner peel away from his opponents to win with 83-8-0. Pellet at 8m worked from the off but maggot down the edge of peg 28 on New Pool found a few lumps to 7lb in the dying stages. Mel Salter was second off peg 5 on the same lake with 70-8-0. Result: 1 B Larner, Kiddermins­ter, 83-8-0; 2 M Salter, Bromsgrove, 70-8-0; 3 D Kemp, West Bromwich, 64-12-0.

STARLETS VETS (TUES) Packington Somers, Gearys & Molands Pools (57 pegs)

Just one fish separated the top three, Pat Clark coming out on top with 65-12-0. Simple pole and pellet tactics helped the local lad find carp to 8lb from peg 20 on Gearys Pool. Top weight on Molands fell to Dave Gibbs, second overall with 63-15-0 of caster-caught F1s from peg 8.

Result: 1 P Clark, Packington, 65-12-0; 2 D Gibbs, Packington, 63-15-0; 3 M Martin, Packington, 62-0-0; 4 P Barran, Packington, 58-9-0.

TUNNEL BARN FARM VETS (TUES) Canal & New Pools (42 pegs)

It was tight at the top but Steve Johnson nicked it with 85-3-0. Peg 19 on New Pool stuck to his hand at the draw and from there he worked with the short pole in front and down the margins for mainly F1s to 3lb.

TUNNEL BARN FARM VETS (THURS) Club, High & Top Pools (65 pegs)

Steve Johnson made it a double

for the week as he topped the field in this well attended midweek shoot-out. On peg 43 on High Pool he extracted 101-3-0 of F1s on the short pole. Runner-up Dave Draper fell just shy with 101-0-0 from peg 30 on the same pool.

WESTWOOD LAKES (THURS) Skylark Lake (36 pegs)

Up-and-down temperatur­es could well have affected the weights, but Skyark Lake sprang a pleasant surprise and Ken Clark needed 126-12-0 to win this one. Most anglers attacked the far bank but the local angler went against the grain from peg 32 and used expander pellet on the short pole for a mixture of carp and skimmers. Brian Chatts was on peg 31 and his tactics mirrored theattack of the winner, helping him land 124-10-0 of a similar stamp of fish for a very close second.

Result: 1 K Clark, Westwood, 126-12-0; 2 B Chatts, Westwood, 124-10-0; 3 R Wells, Westwood, 102-4-0; 4 R Dawber, Westwood, 99-4-0.
