IF YOU’RE look­ing for a carp runs wa­ter in South Waleswhere you can also bag up with sil­ver­fish, look no fur­ther than Hen­dre Lake.

The Cardiff day-ticket venue has re­cently been taken over by new owner Ja­son Mas­say, who wishes to of­fer vis­i­tors top class sport at a bud­get price.

The ma­ture, pic­turesque fish­ery, which has depths to around 6ft and is around 12 acres, has been in fine form this sea­son with an­glers en­joy­ing ex­cel­lent carp sport from its huge head of com­mons and mir­rors.

The fish av­er­age 12lb-18lb and can be caught from any­where. The lake record is just over 30lb and fell this sum­mer, and an­glers have been catch­ing as many as 15 fish in a ses­sion. The bot­tom is silty here so pop­ping up your baits is ad­vised. Floater fish­ing has also been pro­duc­tive.

The lake is also stuffed with rudd, roach, bream, tench and even ruffe, and these can all be caught sim­ply by fish­ing a float with mag­gots.
