THIS Lancashire Venue is under new ownership and has been re-opened for day-ticket anglers.
The fishery, made up of one lake and a 200yard stretch of the River Douglas, has seen recent nets to 200lb of carp, crucians, chub to 5lb, tench to 5lb, bream, rudd, roach and perch.
The lake is where all of the action is, with anglers catching well on the Method feeder with meat, corn or pellets to take carp from 4lb-7lb every cast. If you prefer quality silverfish and some plump crucians, you can be selective with your tactics and enjoy a net of these too. Most of the bigger crucians are coming out to anglers fishing meat close to the lily beds.
The fishery has recently installed solar lights in the swims for those who want to target some of the pool’s bigger lumps to over 20lb at night.
If you like river fishing, the stretch of the Douglas is worth a visit. There are chub, trout, roach, barbel, dace and even salmon in this narrow section, which suits most methods.
