Maver man’s consistenc­y decides three-day festival

THE Thames was in form for this eagerly-awaited three-day festival, bream grabbing the headlines on the opening day before the roach took over.

Maver man Bradley Gibbons was crowned champion with a five-point score, a performanc­e that included joint second place overall on day two behind winner Simon Willsmore’s 17-14-0 of hemp roach.

Day one was won by Steve Sanders with 39-1-0 of bream on the feeder from Appleford.

The same section saw John Weeden take the final day with a 26-3-0 net of tench on pole and worm.

Day 2 result: 1 S Willsmore, Drennan/D&A Tackle/ Spotted Fin, 17-14-0; jt2 J Roberts, Drennan/Sensas and B Gibbons, Maver, both 15-0-0.

Day 3 result: 1 J Weeden, Matrix Image, 26-3-0; 2 S Sanders, Preston Innovation­s, 19-1-0; 3 R Chave, Colmic, 18-8-0.
