KEEP ONE EYE ON THE BIRDS

IT MIGHT sound odd, but if a swan (which are aggressive and territorial birds) looks like it’s following a fish that’s swimming just under the surface, then that’s exactly what’s happening.

Similarly, if a coot suddenly pops up in a distressed state, looking anxiously at the water below and stamping its feet, it has probably just been disturbed by a carp.

Also, watch gulls and ducks as they fly over a lake to see if they spook any carp cruising just below the surface.
