DARREN WINS ON POLE AND FEEDER
Garbolino boss shows versatility on two methods
MIDLAND ANGLER OF THE YEAR (SAT) Barston Lakes, Main Lake (80 pegs)
THIS match is a little unusual as anglers fish for three hours on the feeder, take a break to weigh in and then fish the same peg for a further three hours on the pole before weighing in again. Their totals are then totted up.
Garbolino UK boss Darren Cox mastered both disciplines to win on weight after scoring three points to tie with runnerup Mick Bull and thirdplaced Roly McEneaney.
Darren drew peg 24 and fished the feeder match with Method and wafter pellet to take skimmers, a couple of carp and a few F1s to weigh in 42-0-0.
His efforts on the pole then saw pellet at 14.5m give him a 14lb carp backed by lots of big skimmers for a little over 72-0-0 and a clear win over Mick.
Result: 1 D Cox, Garbolino, 3pts (superior weight); 2 M Bull, Frenzee, 3; 3 R McEneaney, Shimano/Dynamite Baits, 3.
