CANDY CORNER FISHERIES, DONCASTER, SOUTH YORKS

A lot of carp are being caught from the island on AJ’s Lake with a cage feeder and micro pellet approach. There are also plenty of crucians, skimmers and tench to go at on maggot fished over groundbait at 5m. Try down the inside edge with a worm late on for a bigger specimen. CARLETON HILL FISHERY, CARLISLE, CUMBRIA

The seven-peg Chub Pond is producing excellent nets of roach, rudd and perch to maggot shallow. Chub to 5lb and tench to 6lb can be taken on worm segments fished tight into the bulrush-lined margins. On the Trees Pond you can catch plenty of roach, perch, big ide, skimmers and bream by fishing maggot and worm hookbaits into the deep water between pegs 5 and 11. ELVINGTON FISHERIES, ELVINGTON, YORKS

The bream and tench are well worth going for here, with specimens of both species to 8lb available. Maggot or Method feeders are your best bet with single, artificial buoyant maggots or casters working well as hookbaits. Contact: 01904 607504 Postcode: YO41 4AZ

FIELDS END FARM, SANDBACH, CHESHIRE

Both the island and the open water swims are producing at the moment, with pellets and dead maggots finding carp to 6lb, bream and tench. Keep sprinkling bait into the margins and drop in over the top later in the day. Contact: 01354 740199 Postcode: PE15 0TY

HALLCROFT FISHERY, RETFORD, N NOTTS

A groundbait or pellet feeder cast to the middle of Moat Pool is likely to find carp to 6lb. Alternatively, a 30lb net of skimmers is possible here and you can catch them by fishing worm over groundbait. A feeder approach will work, but many anglers prefer to feed a spot close in and floatfish worm over the top. Contact: 01777 710448 Postcode: DN22 7RA

MARTIN HALL FARM FISHERY, PRESTON, LANCS

Natural baits such as worms, maggots, corn and hempseed are proving successful here. Fish down the track at 6m with a chopped worm and a single maggot on the hook to claim carp to 6lb, bream and tench to 5lb as well as a few silvers. Feed a mixture of corn and hemp initially to draw in the fish. Contact: 01772 615832 Postcode: PR4 4TE

MORETON FISHERIES, CONGLETON, CHESHIRE

Pecks Pool is 1.5 acres with 28 pegs, stocked mainly with big carp, crucians and roach. As floatfishing only is allowed here, it’s a great place to practise on the waggler. Cast down the edge with a large worm or a grain of corn to catch, feeding casters to draw in the fish. Contact: 01260 272839 Postcode: CW12 4SB

OLD HOUGH FISHERY, MIDDLEWICH, CHESHIRE

Maggot and small pellets are catching on all lakes here. Fish the pole at 8m with double dead maggot or a 4mm pellet for carp and silverfish. Both the Benbo Pools are producing some decent carp to 5lb on sweetcorn fished on the pole to the far shelf. Contact: 07976 381996 Postcode: CW10 0HQ

THE CUNNERIES FISHERY, CHORLEY, LANCS

This S-shaped canal is a popular match water that gives every angler virtually the same features to target – with a central island, margin and track lines available. The corner pegs, as in most matches, are the hotspots thanks to the extra margin line to fish to. Most baits work, although 4mm and 6mm expanders, or paste fished over micros, will work best for the carp, F1s and silvers. Contact: Betty on 01257 451461 or 07515 689334 Postcode: PR7 5RP

TYRAM FISHERIES, DONCASTER, SOUTH YORKS

The Island Lake is by far the best all-round water here thanks to its diverse features. The island is a great place to target carp on the pole, especially from pegs 1 or 41 which are only 8m or so away from it. On the other hand there is plenty of deep, open water to chuck at with the feeder, with large shoals of 6lb bream waiting to snap up any maggot or worm hookbait. WESTERLEY LAKE, YORK, NORTH YORKS

Plenty of carp and roach are showing in the margins here. Fish 10mm boilies in conjunction with PVA bags of pellets for fish into double figures. For the roach you need to be spraying maggots or casters every put-in to keep the fish competing. There’s a good head of redfins over the 1lb mark, so don’t be surprised if you catch

30lb. Prawns on the waggler may just tempt one of the 3lb-plus perch that lurk in this lake. Contact: 01904 448500 Postcode: YO19 6AH

WOMBWELL DAM, BARNSLEY, S YORKS

The huge nets of silverfish on the Big Pond are being made up of skimmers averaging 1lb-2lb and roach touching 1lb. Fish the feeder, pole or waggler, with the pegs in the narrower area away from the dam proving to be the hotspots. Contact: 07932 333276 Postcode: S74 9SZ
