Try my bomb and pellet tips

-

STEVE Ringer’s attention to detail on his ‘straight-bomb-and-pellet’ tactics is impressive (pages 26-28). Many believe this is a ‘heave-it-and-leave-it’ method for the depths of winter, when feeding can be the kiss of death.

However, if you fish a small water, try this. If there is little or no wind, start on the pellet waggler and have three casts with no feed. Then feed 3-5 pellets and cast on top. Do this for 20 minutes if you don’t catch. If you do, try it for 15 minutes after each fish, still feeding that small amount of bait.

Once you go 15 minutes without a fish, simply switch to the bomb on the same line but keep feeding before you cast. As Steve suggests, start with a longer tail and let your bomb fall on a tight line. Oh, and hang to your rod, as the carp will hook themselves!

?? ?? Fish on for Steve Ringer – bomb and pellet is a deceptively skilful tactic.
