Mixed fortunes in Steel City Classic clash

THE lakes were either boom or bust as the bream shoaled up in the clear water, with some big weights taken but also lots of blanks.

Ringer dynasty patriarch Geoff Ringer won overall with a two-day total of 211-8-0 against the 154-2-0 of Dave Lawrence.

Geoff won day one from peg 114 on Overton Lake, with 31 big bream for 148-6-0 taken on groundbait feeder and hairrigged worm.

Day two was the turn of Dave on peg 63 on Gunwade Lake as he used window feeder and hair-rigged worm to take 29 bream for a 140-6-0 total.

Day one result: 1 G Ringer, Ringer Baits, 148-6-0; 2 S Willsmore, Drennan/D&A Tackle, 94-13-0; 3 P Ringer, Ringer Baits, 86-7-0.

Day two result: 1 D Lawrence, Ripley, 140-6-0; 2 S Ringer, Daiwa/Guru, 76-10-0; 3 R Hall, Rotherham, 71-7-0.
