Pick of the swims on the Roy­alty Fish­ery

If you’ve never fished The Roy­alty, why not head to the Hamp­shire Avon now?

ONE of the coun­try’s most fa­mous river stretches comes un­der the Angling Times spot­light this week.

The Roy­alty Fish­ery on the Hamp­shire Avon at Christchurch is steeped in angling his­tory, renowned not only for the fa­mous an­glers who have graced its banks, but also for the qual­ity of the sport it pro­duces week in, week out through­out the sea­son.

Re­cently the stretch has been in ex­cep­tional form, with dou­ble-fig­ure bar­bel show­ing from a num­ber of swims. Early-sea­son pike fans have also started to find some fish, with at least three 20-pounders taken since Oc­to­ber 1. There are big roach and bream show­ing too.
