Bag a zed at Bury Hill fisheries
EMPEROR LAKES, LODDISWELL, DEVON
Amiee’s Pool is the place to head if you’re after a variety of species this weekend. The waggler, feeder or pole will all work, as will a range of baits including maggot, corn, pellet and meat. Expect roach, rudd, skimmers, crucians, perch, tench and carp to show. Contact: 01548 821680 Postcode: TQ7 4EA
GLOUCESTER PARK, BASILDON, ESSEX
The ‘Canal Stretch’ is fishing well at the moment with anglers reporting bags of tench and bream to 30lb-plus. Cast a waggler down the track, where you’ll find around 6ft of water. Fish a worm and corn cocktail on the hook and catapult loose offerings of corn to maximise your chances. Contact: 01268 282377 Postcode: SS14 3DE
HOLGAN FARM FISHERY, NARBETH, PEMBS
The Crucian Lake is the most consistent of the lot at the moment, with 40lb bags of crucians, tench and silvers coming to worm and caster. Fish close to any cover and you won’t go too far wrong, and be sure to dot your float right down in order to spot those shy bites. Contact: 07796 517586 Postcode: SA67 8DJ
HORDLE LAKES COARSE FISHERY, LYMINGTON, HAMPSHIRE
The aptly-named Tench Lake is the place to head for this weekend if you’re after an 8lb autumn tinca. Fish a Method feeder down the edge or into open water with micro pellets moulded around the cage for the best chance. Experiment with hookbaits, although dead red maggots are currently producing the better stamp. Contact: 01590 683767 Postcode: SO41 0GA
IVY HOUSE LAKES, CHIPPENHAM, WILTS
The match lakes are still fishing their socks off, with anglers reporting nets of between 80lb and 120lb of carp and skimmers. Fish pellet over micros and maggots at 8m, then come down the edge late on with corn or 6mm pellets for the bigger fish. Contact: 07977 093170 Postcode: SN15 4JU
GOLD VALLEY LAKES, ALDERSHOT, HANTS
A straight lead with a small PVA bag of pellets is working well on all lakes for carp to double figures. Alternate between 8mm and 6mm banded pellets to see which works best on the day. Roach are showing well on the Gold Lake too, with caster shallow accounting for nets to 25lb. Contact: 01252 350963 Postcode: GU11 2PT
ORCHARD PLACE FARM, PADDOCK WOOD, KENT
Lake Five is one of the best winter bagging waters in the area, with 100lb nets of F1s easily attainable. Polefished pellet is the best tactic, switching between short and long lines and feeding micros and 4mm pellets to keep the fish interested. Contact: 07860 608218 Postcode: TN12 6NY
RIB VALLEY LAKES, WARE, HERTS
The carp sport has slowed on the Rib Lake, although fish up to 25lb are still being taken on the usual Cell, Hybrid or Kkrill boilies. The venue’s pike season is now underway and fish up to 22lb have already fallen to deadbaits. As the weed starts to die off and temperatures fall, big roach and perch will respond to pole or feeder-fished worm or red maggots. Contact: 01920 462200 Postcode: SG12 0ES
ROYAL BERKSHIRE FISHERY, WINDSOR, BERKS
If the carp won’t play ball then the roach certainly will, with maggot, caster and even pellet providing action from redfins to over 1lb on all of the lakes. Feed little-and-often with a catapult, alternating the depth regularly to keep in touch with the biggest fish in your swim. Contact: 01344 891101 Postcode: SL4 4TE
THORPE LEA FISHERY, EGHAM, SURREY
Thorpe Lea is renowned for its carp sport, but there are also some monster perch present, which come out regularly during the winter months. Fish to 3lb are not unheard of and can be caught by fishing worm, maggot or prawn on a bomb or waggler. Contact: 07934 000559 Postcode: TW20 8PG
TYLERS COMMON, BRENTWOOD, ESSEX
The Horseshoe Lake has 60 pegs and is full of small islands but it is the open water that should be targeted at the moment. Feeding sparingly is key, with a tiny pinch of micro pellets and maggots after every fish all that’s required to tempt 50lb-plus nets of carp.

VIADUCT FISHERY, SOMERTON, SOMERSET
The picturesque Match Lake is a popular venue with pleasure anglers thanks to its stocking of F1s and carp to 6lb. There’s also a decent head of specimen perch to over 3lb that can be caught using worm and maggot cocktails fished down the margins on the pole or waggler. Contact: 01458 274022 Postcode: TA11 6LJ
