Big perch on the cards at Viaduct

-

BAIT-TECH VIADUCT FISHERY, SOMERTON, SOMERSET

AT Bait-Tech Viaduct fishery pleasure anglers are filling their boots with carp, bream and perch.

The 35-peg Cary Pool is a prolific match water where 100lb-plus nets of carp averaging 5lb-6lb are common, but recently perch over 3lb have been banked on worms, casters and prawns close to the bank. Don’t feed too much or too far out or you will risk being ‘carped out’.

If you don’t fancy a session with the stripeys, bigger carp to 15lb can be targeted. Fish the bomb with corn, pellet and maggot into open water and explore your peg by casting around and looking for indications to locate the fish.

On the Spring, Middle and Match Lakes some cracking nets of bream and skimmers can be put together by fishing maggot and corn over micros at 13m. Alternatively, bomb and pellet is a great way to put together a 100lb-plus net of carp, and this can be achieved by feeding accurately and again being active with your casting.

On the Match Lake try fishing shallow with caster or pellet for a bag of carp and F1s.

If these fish fail to show you can always switch to a deeper rig and fish over the same line you’ve been feeding.
