John bagged the prized fish from his own club’s day-ticket stretch of the River Nene near his home, where he tempted it on a small piece of Spam fished on a size 10 Gardner Target Specimen barbless hook.

It was the best of four doubles landed by the 59-year-old from Nene over the past month, along with chub to over 6lb.
