Blurton in trio of canal wins
WINNING on the North West open canal circuit is no easy feat, given the high standard of the anglers and some tough venues.
So Carl Blurton’s achievement in winning three well-attended Wigan DAA opens on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal is especially noteworthy.
The Wigan MG man warmed up for the opening round of the Angling Trust Wigan League by topping Saturday’s 41-pegger at Parbold with a hard-earned 4-0-12, seven days after taking 9-6-0 at Heaton Bridge.
This time Carl caught more than 120 small roach on pole and breadpunch from his peg near the flats, leaving Kevin Garry in second on 3-12-4.
