Bakers is a great win­ter carp venue if you are look­ing for a few runs, with a good head of twen­ties and the odd lump to 35lb. BARFORD LAKES, NORWICH, NORFOLK

The Top Lake is up to 12ft deep but shal­low fish­ing still works. Set your rig at about 6ft and keep ping­ing pel­lets over the top, fish­ing a 6mm ver­sion on a bait band. There’s no bet­ter time to tar­get the skim­mers on the Lamb­s­down Lake. Feed two lines at 11m and 8m with damp­ened mi­cro pel­lets and mag­gots and use a 4mm ex­pander pel­let, a ker­nel of corn or sin­gle mag­got on the hook for plenty of skim­mers to 3lb.
