Catch in the cold at Aston Park

RECOMMENDED ASTON PARK FISHERIES, SHEFFIELD

-

FOR a big bag of silverfish in comfortable surroundings it doesn’t get much better than Aston Park.

The Sheffield venue is one of the North’s most in-form silverfish venues at the moment, with anglers claiming big bags to over 80lb in recent matches and pleasure sessions.

The best silverfish catches are being made on the fishery’s Split and Lily lakes, where roach, perch and quality ide to 3lb-plus are being caught.

The Split is a rectangular lake with 42 pegs. You can catch plenty of fish targeting the margins with chopped worm and caster here, but many anglers are also taking some good weights by fishing maggots on the deck at 13m and catapulting loose offerings over the top.

Lily Lake is very similar and has virtually the same number of pegs.

A clever underwater aeration system means that all the lakes on site almost never freeze and so big bags of fish are a genuine possibility on even the coldest of days.
