JAYNE LANDS FISH OF HUSBAND’S DREAMS

Tuna tempts a stillwater monster

-

YOU can’t leave your rods for someone else to look after without thinking they might land the fish of your dreams.

And that’s exactly what happened to Darrin Jones when he handed temporary custody of his gear to his wife while he went exploring at a Hampshire stillwater.

“I took the missus, Jayne, for a night on my local syndicate,” said Darrin. “I had a 21lb mirror at 3am, so it was her turn on the rods.

“I was off around the pond looking for signs of fish when the inevitable happened! She did a great job of playing the fish as it put up a hard fight. It weighed 40lb 12oz.

“Both fish were caught using CC Moore Pacific Tuna glugged with L030.”

Elsewhere in quirky news this week, Joe Hirst just couldn’t wait to go fishing as he made his way back from Cheltenham Festival.

Still in his finery, the Manchester angler nipped into Staffordshire’s Baden Hall Fishery on his way back from the famous horse-racing meeting and snared this mirror (pictured below).

Joe, who always keeps his carp gear handy, grabbed a pack of 10mm Bait-Tech Triple-N boilies and got on the fish straight away. Joe used small mesh PVA bags of the boilies and presented a matching trimmeddown wafter on a short fluoro hooklink and a size 10 hook.
