Would you pause for a meal if you were in the mood for love?

I’M unsure how I feel about the closed season, but I do believe that scientific research needs to be conducted in order to find out what (if any) the benefits are.

At the moment, they seem minimal. Spawning fish don’t feed anyway, so anything caught between March and June wouldn’t have its mind on love if it ended up in an angler’s landing net.

Leaving our rivers almost unmanned for three months gives poachers the perfect opportunity to catch coarse fish for the table without being apprehended.

With that in mind, maybe the closed season actually causes more harm than good. Craig Wilson, Burnley
