BIG PERCH FALLS TO SPINNER
THIS superb 4lb 13oz perch is further proof of just how deadly spinners and lures can be for targeting the species.
Doncaster-based specialist Dave Ladds set a new personal best when he banked the huge specimen from a local stillwater.
After trying most of the plastic lures in his tackle box with no success, Dave tied on a small silver spinner, a move which proved to be a masterstroke.
After retrieving it close to the bottom he induced the allimportant take from the pocket predator, the same tactics also accounting for another good perch weighing 2lb 11oz.
“I caught my previous personal best of 4lb 8oz on a livebait, and ever since then it’s been an ambition of mine to catch a ‘four’ on a lure,” Dave told Angling Times.
