behind TWO 90lb braces!

-

FRYERNING produced two 90lb-plus braces in a week as two different fifties slipped up. Darren Baker caught the Essex venue’s biggest resident, the Gurm, at 55lb 4oz just five minutes after recasting from the capture of No Name at 37lb 4oz.

The other successful angler was new member Scott Clark, whose first two fish from the Main Lake were the Boss at 51lb 8oz and Stripe at 38lb 6oz.

He said: “It blew me away. I could not believe I had just landed the Boss at a back-breaking 51lb 8oz. I had smashed my pb and I had achieved something I had only dreamed of doing.”

The smaller of Scott’s two fish, a mirror known as Stripe, arrived at 3pm on the Saturday of a twonight weekend session.

Scott had opted to fish the Royal Box swim to get access to a range of depths from 6ft to 11ft. It was the deeper spot that produced just an hour after recasting.

“I’d just got back into my bivvy to watch the lake when my middle rod went screaming off,” he said. “I couldn’t believe I’d had my first Fryerning take and after around 20 minutes I had managed to net a

fish known as the Stripe.”

Car valeter Darren, who caught the Gurm, said: “I had the 37lb mirror first, then after a recast had Gurm after only five minutes of the rig being in the water.

“Lifting into a real twitchy take, I knew something huge was on the other end and I had a long, hard battle for over 40 minutes.”

Darren, who fished to a hard spot at 80yds, added: “Emotional isn’t the word! It’s a new pb and lake record, and two fish in one session.

“The pure width of it is mindblowing, it is sure to get even bigger over the next few months,” he said.
